Not as long as I thought it was going to be.

So, today is graduation day! By the time you guys read this I’ll be well into the midst of graduation festivities. I made it out; I escaped undergrad with a BFA in Creative Writing and minors in Communication and Film Studies. It’s been a good four years, but I am more than ready to move on to a new stage in my life. As I wrote back in January, Mage in a Barrel is an irreplaceable piece of my future plans and it isn’t going anywhere soon.
Except for right now. As much as I hate to say it, I’m going to be on hiatus from blogging for the immediate future. Despite my best efforts, there were some complications that arose in my quest for an apartment and I’m going to in a temporary living situation until I can get that all sorted out. Along with the move and capping off all of my obligations at college, I’m going to be pretty busy with things in the next couple days—and after that I’ll be starting my job. I’m very blessed to be going into full-time employment straight out of college; it’s just taking a little more time than I expected (or wanted) to find a place to live.
As such, I was basically faced with an entirely unpredictable schedule or a planned hiatus and I chose the latter simply for the sake of my own sanity and for providing you guys a clear idea of what’s going on. Unfortunately, due to the up-in-the-air nature of everything, I don’t know when I’ll be returning exactly. However, what I can say is that if I’m not back by the beginning on June, something probably went terribly wrong. I’m very much hoping to be back before then—the blogging itch never goes away!—but I just don’t know.
Anyways, I’ll spare you my laments and unhappiness over having to go on hiatus. I’m honestly really excited about my immediate future, even if it’s not quite as solid right now as I’d like. I’m not in danger of being homeless or starving or anything like that, so I’m in a good spot. It’s just that, in the lineup of full-time employment, finding a place to live, and generally being able to stay alive, blogging is relegated to a backseat role.
Against all my expectations, all of the above text is effectively moot. I’m still graduating today, but through a rather miraculous set of circumstances I now have an apartment that I’ll be moving into after graduation, rather than diving into the mess of temporary living situations. I’ll still be taking a few days of hiatus as I move, get internet up and running, and get started with my job, but I should be up and running again by next weekend!

That all being said, know there is some stuff I am super, super excited about planned for when I get back from this hiatus. Being out of college and having a predictable routine (without homework!) is going to allow me to do some things I haven’t been able to do in quite a while and I am, like, so, so thrilled to share this stuff with you guys. I just didn’t feel I could start talking about it before I had a normal schedule again.
Thanks everyone for sticking with me all this time! It means more than I can say without sounding entirely cliché that my readers keep coming back to my posts and I’m looking forward to a new stage in the life of the community that’s grown up on this blog. You’ll still be able to find me on Twitter or via email if something comes up or if you just want to keep tabs on me as things go along.
Blessings to you and your families; if you’re of the praying type, I’d be hugely grateful for your prayers as I go through this transition.
Until the next post,
~iblessall

Congrats on graduating! Sounds like you’re going through some exiting times right now, leaving school behind, starting out on a new job and all that. Best of luck with the apartment, hopefully everything works out as intended and things will settle down a bit soon. I’m looking forward to see you doing more writing on this blog in the future!

I’m really glad to hear you won’t have to go on extended hiatus. I only discovered your blog because of your Akatsuki no Yona posts and only started commenting because of your amazing BBB posts. I’m really loving everything here. (Speaking of which, I’d love more Catholicism in Anime posts. Fellow Catholic here.) I’m even thinking of starting my own anime blog, since there doesn’t seem to be much representation for older anime watchers like me out there. 🙂
