I’m not dead! I’ve just been spending a lot of time writing up some egregiously long posts, one of which is finally out! It’s a review of Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale, the SAO movie that finally showed in US theatres last week. I’m rather fond of SAO on the whole, so I enjoyed getting to watch the movie and I’m happy I had a chance to review it for Crunchyroll.
First you wrote positive things about Glasslip, then it was Lost Village, then it was Handshakers, and now you have good things to say about SAO. Are you trying to singlehandedly demolish the YouTube vloggers’ entire orthodoxy or something? LOL
In all seriousness, though, good writeup. Even though I’ve never watched a minute of SAO, I had no trouble following your thoughts, and your genuine affection for the movie came across very clearly.

Don’t forget Gundam Reconguista in G (although I guess that’s not anime YouTuber fodder). Anyways, don’t get me started on the travesty that is the way anime YouTubers continually rag on SAO for sweet $—it’s one of the reason I can’t take them seriously. So yes, let me destroy the anime YouTuber orthodoxy. Then I can retire from aniblogging lol.
Thanks though! I’m glad the review turned out well, when all is said and done. It’s not a great movie, but it did what it needed to do and that ought to have been reconfigured at least once, I thought.
